Had a lot of fun with this one!
As a painter and draftsman I see creativity both outside in the world as well as within myself. The creative patterns of design and repetition in Nature endlessly inspire me. Lately in my work I am exploring the theme of larger than life celestial figures who design, decorate, play, and watch over our world from the starry skies. They are kind but have a healthy dose of detachment from our small day to day problems. They remind me of the bigger picture in life.
In my work I am inspired by many mythologies, stories, and religions, but my work creates its own story. So these figures are also a bit of a metaphor of the creation of my pictures as well as the personifications of the magical unseen forces of Nature.
Any other star gazers inspired from looking up at the night sky?

Rising Star, 11 X 5, graphite with watercolour and gouache.
I believe we each have an inner star, sometimes it`s hidden, buried deep, and other moments it`s so apparent we can wear it on our sleeve. I don`t think it`s easy to follow that star, but when we do, bright and positive things can happen. We are all rising stars ✨

A little break from working at the easel for this digital sketch after Alphonse Mucha. I use digital media as a way to correct student`s drawings and paintings so I like taking time to study and practice my hand at it. It`s a strange mixture of painting, pencil, and watercolor. I honestly love experimenting with it!
This is a piece made with a focus in warm and cool tones as a class demo.

Another quick windy sketch! When things are obscured you can imagine whatever you want…is she looking upward, downward, right at you?
